Description

Southwire’s NMWU cables may be used in underground installations, including direct burial, at conductor temperatures not exceeding 60C. Southwire NMWU also may be used for work in both concealed and exposed areas to the weather in dry and wet locations. Southwire’s NMWU cables are available as two- or three-conductor cables, with bare grounding conductor. Constructed with annealed (soft) copper conductors – compressed stranding for the stranded conductors; a thermoplastic polyvinyl chloride (PVC) insulation and a nylon jacket for the phase conductors; and a sunlight-, moisture-, and fungus-resistant PVC jacket surrounding the overall construction.

  • 12 AWG NMWU with 2 copper conductors and one ground wire
  • Minimum installation temperature is -40C for two- conductor cables sizes 14 AWG through 6 AWG, and
  • -25C for other sizes. For three-conductor cables the minimum installation temperature is -10C
  • Material should be properly stored above 0C for 24 hours prior to installation
  • Maximum voltage rating for all intended applications is 300V
